Army, Navy distribute relief, spray disinfectant in three districts

KHULNA, April 23, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Army and Navy personnel today
separately distributed relief materials, including food, masks and soaps,
among the destitute people and sprayed germicides on different roads and
distributed leaflets as part of their awareness activities in Khulna, Barguna
and Bagerhat districts.

In Khulna, Army personnel today distributed foodstuff in East Baniakhamar
area under Ward no-27 of the city, a press release said here.

They distributed huge rice, atta, pulse, oil, potato, onion and masks among
hundred poor families in the area. They also undertook social awareness
campaign against deadly coronavirus outbreak.

The Navy personnel of Bagerhat and Barguna assisted the local
administration for distributing relief materials among 2097 poor families and
200 leaflets, 50 masks and sprayed disinfectant on various streets in
different areas of Barguna district.

In Bagerhat, the Navy contingent distributed foodstuff, leaflets and masks
among 641 poor families in Digrajbazar, Sonaitola and Burirdanga union
parishads of Mongla upazila, the release said.

In Khulna, the force also distributed relief materials among 110 destitute
families in Jabusa area under Rupsha upazila.

Army and Navy personnel are trying to make people understand about the
importance of social distancing.

The armed forces are assisting the civil administrations alongside with
comprehensive efforts of authorities concerned in ensuring quarantine and
maintaining social distancing to prevent community transmission of COVID-19
in Khulna division.

The ongoing efforts include motivation of common people to raise their
awareness, distribution of leaflets, foodstuffs and masks and spraying
antibiotics on roads and in public places and conducting hand-washing and
cleanliness campaign to prevent contagion of COVID-19.
