UP chairman, secretary sued in Narail for plundering relief goods

DHAKA, April 23, 2020 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)
has filed a case against a union parishad chairman and a secretary in
Narial for plundering the rice of relief.

ACC assistant director of Jashore district office Mahfuz Iqbal filed
the case against Joynagar Union Parishad chairman Md Alauddin
Chowdhury and its secretary Sheikh Md Mohidul Islam, ACC spokesman
Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told BSS today.

The case, he said, was filed with ACC’s Jashore integrated district
office yesterday.

According to the case statement, UP chairman Alauddin in collusion
with its secretary Mohidul misappropriated 280 kilogrammes of rice
allocated under the government’s GR programme for the poor and
destitute people amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Pranab said the national anti-graft agency continues drives to
arrest the two accused.
