14 more tested COVID-19 positive in Khulna division
KHULNA, April 23, 2020 (BSS) – Fourteen more suspected patients were diagnosed as coronavirus (COVID-19) positive after testing their samples at the COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna and Jashore districts during the last 24 hours till today 2pm today, raising the total number to 36 in the division.
“We found 14 more people COVID-19 positive out of 107 samples tested in two regional Molecular Laboratorys in the division till today 2pm,” Assistant Director (Health) in Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akther told BSS.
The newly detected 14 COVID-19 patients include six in Chuadanga, three in Kustia, two in Khulna, one each in Magura, Jashore and Meherpur districts.
Meanwhile, the total number of quarantined people rose to 23,465 as 831 more people were quarantined at home or in institutions during the last 24 hours till 8 am today.
“In the last 24 hours, the number of quarantined people is 24 in Bagerhat, one in Satkhira, 344 in Jashore, 24 in Jhenaidah, 37 in Magura, 24 in Narail, 192 in Kustia, 123 in Chuadanga and 62 in Meherpur”. Ferdousi said.
Since the virus outbreak, a total of 16,464 people were released from home or institutional quarantine and 7,001 others are in quarantine now in Khulna division, she said.
Besides, 147 suspected coronavirus patients were admitted to the isolation units of different hospitals, and of them, 128 were released and 19 are undergoing treatments, Dr. Ferdousi added.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda sultana said the health administration has put maximum emphasis on taking more steps to ensure treatment for the COVID-19 infected patients in Khulna division.
