Army distributes food in Rangpur city

RANGPUR, April 22, 2020 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Army today distributed
foodstuffs among 400 jobless, distressed and needy families of Rangpur City
Corporation (RpCC) area from its own resources as humanitarian assistance.

Led by Captain Md. Shafat Jamil, members of Bangladesh Army distributed
foodstuffs among the distressed families in an informal function arranged at
Carmichael Collegiate School and College ground in the city maintaining
physician distance.

On the occasion, officials of Bangladesh Army briefly discussed the nature
and severity of coronavirus (COVID-19) and put importance on maintaining
physical distance and staying at home to prevent spread of the deadly virus.

Later, members of Bangladesh Army distributed the food items in a well-
organized manner strictly maintaining physical distancing to prevent
community transmission of COVID-19 infection.

Each of the beneficiary families of ward no 15, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 30 and
31 of RpCC received five kg of rice, two kg of flour, one kg each of pulse
and biscuits, 500 gram each of soya-bean oil and iodized salt and 250 gram of
semolina.

On the occasion, Panel Mayor-1 of RpCC Md. SamsulHaque, City Councilors
Mahbubar Rahman Monju, Ward Councilor HarunAr Rashid, MalekNiazArju,
ZakariaAlamShiblu and Mokhtar Hossain were present.

After getting the food assistance, a number of beneficiary people thanked
the Bangladesh Army for standing beside the helpless and the poor along with
working relentlessly tackling the outbreak of coronavirus to save the people
of the country.
