Maldives president thanks Sheikh Hasina for sending relief, medical equipment

DHAKA, April 22, 2020 (BSS) – Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih today called Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and thanked her for sending medical equipment and relief materials to the Maldives to combat the coronavirus situation.

“The Maldivian president phoned the prime minister around 11 am and expressed gratitude and extended thanks to her for sending relief goods and medical equipment to the Maldives to fight the coronavirus situation,” PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.

During the telephonic conversation that lasted for 10 minutes, the Maldivian president hoped that the cooperation between the two countries will continue in future.

The press secretary said the prime minister assured that Bangladesh will keep up their cooperation and assistance to the friendly and neighbouring countries for their any needs.

The prime minister wished continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of the Maldives, he said.

At the directives of the premier, Bangladesh sent 100 tons of food, medicines and medical equipment to the Maldives to combat the coronavirus situation there.
