Hong Kong, Shanghai stocks tumble by break
HONG KONG, June 19, 2018 (BSS/AFP) – Shares dived in Hong Kong and
Shanghai on Tuesday as investors fret over a possible trade war between the
US and China after Donald Trump threatened fresh sanctions, sparking warnings
of retaliatory measures by Beijing.
The Hang Seng Index sank 2.18 percent, or 659.44 points, to 29,650.05.
And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index plunged 2.97 percent, or 89.82
points, to 2,932.08, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks
on China’s second exchange, dropped 4.35 percent, or 73.55 points, to
1,618.10.
