Two more test positive for COVID-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, April 20, 2020 (BSS) – Two more people were tested posited for
coronavirus (COVID-19) at the COVID-19 Laboratory of Rangpur Medical College
(RMC) in the city today.

“We tested 184 collected samples of suspected coronavirus patents today and
found two of them COVID-19 positive,” Chief of the Divisional Coronavirus
Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RMC Professor Dr. AKM
Nurunnabi Laizu said.

The newly detected two COVID-19 infected patients are residents of Kawnia
upazila in Rangpur district and Sadar upazila in Kurigram district.

With the detection of two COVID-19 positive patients today, the total
number of coronavirus infected patients rose to 52, including three
physicians working in government hospitals, in the division.

“Of the detected COVID-19 patients, seven are in Rangpur, nine in
Nilphamari, 11 in Dinajpur, 13 in Gaibandha, six in Thakurgaon, two in
Lalmonirhat, three in Kurigram and one in Panchagarh districts,” he said.

Most of the detected COVID-19 positive patients recently returned from
Dhaka, Narayanganj and Gazipur districts and some others got infected after
coming in contact with them, Dr. Laizu added.
