AL distributes foodstuffs among 2,000 jobless villagers
RANGPUR, April 19, 2020 (BSS) – The district unit of Awami League (AL) distributed foodstuffs among 2,000 jobless and needy villagers of Mominpur union under Sadar upazila in the district on Saturday.
As per the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the district AL with assistance of its Mominpur union unit distributed the foodstuffs among the jobless people strictly maintaining physical distance to help them amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Razu with local leaders of its Sadar upazila and Mominpur union units AL and its associate bodies distributed the foodstuffs at its Mominpur union AL office premises.
On the occasion, Advocate Razu distributed a sac containing rice, potato, edible oil, pulse, flour, onion, iodized salt and soap among each of the jobless, distressed and needy families of different villages of Mominpur union.
President of Sadar upazila AL Humayun Kabir, its General Secretary AKM Halimul Haque, Treasurer Kamruzzaman Chand, President of Mominpur union AL Obaidul Islam Mintu, its General Secretary Abu Jafar Sheesh and Organising Secretary of district Chhatra League SM Sabbir, among others, were present.
Advocate Razu said the leaders of and its associate bodies will continue distributing foodstuffs among the jobless and needy people as per the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina until the COVID-19 situation becomes normal.
He especially called upon the people not to maintain physical distance, remain at home and abide by the health directives of the government to prevent community transmission of COVID-19 infection and face the situation with courage.
