BPMCA president Mubin Khan and other representatives handed over the medical supplies to the foreign minister, who was also the Member of Parliament from Sylhet-1 constituency, at foreign service academy in the capital, a press release said.

The PPEs will be sent to Sylhet Medical College Hospital, Shaheed Shamsuddin Hospital, Heart Foundation, Kidney Foundation and Cardiac hospitals in Sylhet.

Momen hoped that Bangladesh will be able to win the combat against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic as different private and volunteer bodies stepped forward along with the government in this crisis moment.

The foreign minister said today is Bangladesh Foreign Service day as on this day in 1971, 65 Bangalee employees under leadership of the then Kolkata’s deputy high commissioner Ali Hossain hoisted Bangladesh flag instead of Pakistan’s one in Kolkata, one day after forming of Bangladesh exile government in Mujibnagar.

“As we are united today, I believe we can make our country free from coronavirus as we had freed our country (from Pakistani occupation force) in 1971,” he said.

Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen was present on the occasion.
