Ctg port strengthens screening to contain corona outbreak

CHATTOGRAM, April 15, 2020 (BSS) – The medical team has strengthened its activities in Chattogram port to screen foreign ships and sailors arriving from different major seaports with imported goods to contain spread of coronavirus.

A total of 9, 985 sailors have been screened at the port since February 1, said port health officer Dr. Motahar Hossain, adding the medical team is inspecting the overseas vessels following the direction of authorities.

However, another port official told BSS that the port has its own ambulance boat, many tug boats, pilot boats side by side its own hospital.

Earlier, divisional health officer Dr Shahriar Hasan Kabir in a letter directed the port authority to further strengthen the regular inspection of all vessels arriving at Chattogram sea port to prevent infection of the virus.
