11,843 released from home-quarantine in Khulna so far

KHULNA, April 14, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 11,843 foreign returnees have,
so far, been released from home-quarantine, out of the total 6,232, as they
showed no symptoms of novel coronavirus, in the division, an official said
today.

Talking to BSS, Assistant Director (Health) in Khulna Dr. Ferdousi Akther
said a total of 11,843 expatriates have been released from home-quarantine,
201 from institutional quarantine and 65 others from isolation in the
division from March 10 to till 8am today as they showed no coronavirus
symptoms.

Meanwhile, only 636 expatriates were kept in home-quarantine in the last 24
hours ending at 8 am today, she said. Among those, 12 were kept in home
quarantine in Khulna, six in Bagerhat, 10 in Satkhira, 36 in Jashore, 77 in
Jhenaidah, 174 in Magura, 114 in Narail, 177 in Chuadanga and 30 in Meherpur,
she added.

With them, the number of home-quarantined expatriates stood at 16,232 in
the division and a total of 435 were released in the last 24 hours as they
showed no symptoms of coronavirus during their stay in home-quarantine for 14
days, Dr. Ferdousi said.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said adequate initiatives
have been taken for providing treatments to the COVID-19 infected patients in
Khulna division and steps have been taken to further enhance the capacity.

“Till Monday, a total of four persons have been detected COVID-19 positive
in the division. Of them one is of Khulna, one of Jashore, one of Narail and
one of Chuadanga districts,” she added.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Subhash Chandra Saha said
restrictions on movements of people and lock down at some places are in
effect now as per the direction of the government for ensuring physical
distancing to contain COVID-19 spread in the division.

“We have strengthened monitoring systems on distribution of food among the
jobless and needy people by strictly maintaining physical distance amid
coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak,” he added.
