TCB dealer held with huge fair price essentials in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 14, 2020 (BSS) – The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) have arrested a TCB dealer with stockpiled 3,107 litres of edible oil and 150 kg of sugar allocated for sale at fair price amid COVID-19 situation.

“A special team of the DB police seized the edible oil and sugar of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) and arrested the man from his rented Godown in Pakpara area of the metropolis on Monday night,” a press release said today.

As per direction of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (DB) of RpMP Uttam Prasad Pathok led the drive, seized the stockpiled daily essentials and arrested the TCB dealer.

Assistant Police Commissioner (DB) of RpMP Altaf Hossain, Assistant Commissioner Sharif Al Raji, Police Inspector Rajesh Kumar Chakraborty and Police Inspector (Investigation) Razifuzzaman Basunia with police forces participated in the drive.

The arrested TCB dealer is Partho Ghosh, 31, of Paul Para area under Kotwali police station of RpMP in the metropolis.

The DB police filed a case in this connection against the arrested TCB dealer and handed him over to Kotwali police station of RpMP today.

Talking to BSS, RpMP Chief Abdul Alim Mahmud said similar raids will be continued to completely stop hoarding and black-marketing of the daily essentials allocated by the government for sale at fair price through the TCB amid COVID-19 situation.

Earlier, the DB police arrested hoarders Irfan Hasan Suman and Harun-Ur-Rashid from Alamnagar Robertsonganj area in the city and seized stockpiled 6,480 litres of edible oil of TCB for fair sale from a rented Godown in the afternoon on the same day, he added.
