Bangladesh SA mission keeping contact with employers

DHAKA, April 13, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Golam
Moshi today said they are keeping continuous contact with different Saudi
companies to help Bangladeshi workers in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

He said this while distributing food baskets among the expatriate
Bangladeshi workers, who are now facing different problems as lockdown and
curfew is underway across the Saudi Arabia from March 23, to contain the
outbreak of coronavirus, a foreign ministry press release said here today.

The Bangladesh missions in Saudi Arabia that hosts 21 lakh Bangladeshis,
have started distributing food to the destitute expatriate Bangladeshi
workers as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Moshi urged all expatriates to stay at home according to the Saudi Arabia
government’s instructions over the curfew and to follow health tips for
protecting themselves from the lethal virus.

The envoy said the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyad is making a list of
destitute Bangladeshi expatiates residing in Saudi Arabia to send food basket
containing — 5 kg rice, 2 kg potatoes, 2 kg onions, 1 kg pulses, 1.5 liters
edible oil, salt and soaps — to their respective residents.

The Bangladesh embassy is also collecting information of hard-hit
Bangladeshi expatriates due to coronavirus outbreak in Saudi Arabi through a
hotline number, what’s up number and email.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah has sent food assistance
to residences of needy expatriate Bangladeshis.

Earlier, a large number of expatriate Bangladeshi workers residing in
Jeddah and Western part of Saudi Arabia had contacted with Bangladesh
missions for receiving aid as the consulate general urged all expatiate
Bangladeshis to provide them information if they need any support amid the
ongoing lockdown there.

Bangladesh Consul Foysol Ahmed urged those expatriate Bangladeshis who are
yet to contact the mission for getting food supply, said the release.
