Jeddah Bangladesh mission sends food to expatriates’ residences

DHAKA, April 13, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh mission in Jeddah has distributed food and essential items among the expatriate Bangladeshi workers especially those who have lost their jobs amid lockdown there due to outbreak of deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah sent the food assistance to residences of needy expatriate Bangladeshis as per directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a foreign ministry press release said here today.

The Bangladesh mission is conducting the support service for the expatriate Bangladeshis under special permission of the Saudi Arabian government as currently a lockdown and curfew is being imposed there for containing outbreak of coronavirus.

Besides, the consulate general advised all expatriate Bangladeshis to stay at home in this prevailing situation for protecting their own health risks.

Earlier, a large number of expatriate Bangladeshi workers residing in Jeddah and Western part of Saudi Arabia had contacted with Bangladesh missions for receiving aid after the consulate general urging all expatiate Bangladeshis to provide their information if they need any support amid the ongoing lockdown there.

Bangladesh Consul Foysol Ahmed urged those expatriate Bangladeshis who are yet to contact the mission for getting food supply, said the release.
