BB issues guideline for Tk 5000cr stimulus package for agriculture
DHAKA, April 13, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Bank (BB) today issued a guideline
for the stimulus package of Taka 5,000 crore announced by the government for
agriculture sector to boost production to overcome the possible COVID-19
impact.
The central bank has introduce a scheme of Taka 5,000 crore titled ‘Special
Incentive Re-financing Scheme for Agriculture Sector’ for ensuring smooth
flow of capital for non-crop agriculture sub-sectors dependent on working
capital, including seasonal flower and fruit cultivation, fisheries, poultry,
dairy and livestock.
For taking the loan facilities, interested banks will have to ink
participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank.
The scheduled banks will pay one percent interest to the central bank for
the loan, but they can take maximum 4 percent interest from their clients.
The banks will repay the money with interest to the central bank within 18
months, including six months grace period.
