Two held with huge quantity of illegal VoiP equipment

DHAKA, April 12, 2020 (BSS) – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4)
held two persons with over 4,000 SIM cards and huge quantity of illegal Voice
over Internet Protocol (VoIP) equipment in a drive in Pallabi and Kafrul
areas.

The detainees were Md Tanvir Mahmud Rana, 34, of Pabna and Md Sohag alias
Abbas, 35, of Khulna.

RAB legal and media wing assistant director ASP Sujoy Sarker confirmed it
to BSS saying that they were detained from the area on Saturday night.

The VoIP equipment includes 16 SIM boxes having different antenna ports,
4,030 SIM cards of different operators, 15 routers, two laptops, monitors,
USBs, mobile phones and diary having illegal VoIP account. RAB-4 media wing
senior assistant police super Sajedul Islam Sajal told BSS that the detainees
confessed their involvement with VoIP business in the primary interrogation.
