Mahila Parishad mourns death of National Prof Sufia
DHAKA, April 12, 2020 (BSS)- Bangladesh Mahila Parishad(BMP)expressed deep
shock at the death of language movement veteran and the country’s first
female national professor Dr Sufia Ahmed, who died at a city hospital on
Thursday at the age of 87.
In a condolence message, BMP acting president Dr Fawzia Moslem and general
secretary Maleka Banu prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and
conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Sufia, also wife of former advisor to a caretaker government Syed
Ishtiaque Ahmed, played an active role in 1952 Language Movement.
She was awarded with Ekushey Padak in 2002 and she received Sufia Kamal
Award in 2015.
