RELIEF-DISTRIBUTION-IRREGULARITY
One UP chairman, 2 members suspended for misappropriating relief goods
DHAKA, April 12, 2020 (BSS) – The Local Government, Rural Development and
Cooperatives Ministry has suspended one Union Parishad chairman and two
members as they were found involved in irregularities during relief
distribution.
The Local Government Division issued three separate notifications in this
regard today.
During a probe conducted by the Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer,
Mirzapur Union Parishad (Hathazari Upazila in Chattogram) chairman Nurul
Afsar was found involved in irregularities during relief distribution among
the poor people and subsequently he was suspended.
Md Kabir Hossain, a member of Pirozpur Union Parishad under Sonargaon
Upazila in Narayanganj, was suspended for the same allegations.
A mobile court sent Md Shahin Shah, a member of Sukash Union Parishad
under Singra upazila in Natore, to jail for misappropriation of food aid
sanctioned for the lower-income people.
The three local public representatives were suspended under the section 34
(1) of the Local Government (Union Parishad) Act 2009.
