Stern action against irregularities on TCB products selling: Tipu

DHAKA, April 11, 2020 (BSS)- Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today said that
strong action would be taken against those who would be involved in
irregularities in selling of the products by the Trading Corporation of
Bangladesh (TCB).

The Commerce Minister came to know about some incidents of irregularities
in some places on the selling of essential items on fixed prices by the TCB,
an official release said.

Action has already been taken against those involved in the irregularities
as per the law following directives from the Commerce Minister.

All concerned have been cautioned, over the selling of essential
commodities of TCB, not to resort to any kind of irregularity while the
monitoring system has been strengthened.

The release said despite this, the Commerce Minister has ordered the TCB to
take stern legal action against those who would be found guilty again in such
kind of irregularities.

Earlier on April 7, the TCB issued an order requesting the divisional,
district and upazila level administration side by side the Directorate of
National Consumer Rights Protection, police and RAB to to send the allegation
of irregularities to the head office of the TCB. Besides, stern action would
be taken against the dealers and concerned persons if their alleged incidents
of irregularities are published in the media.

Meanwhile, the TCB is selling its essential items through its countrywide
3,000 dealers while action has already been taken against nine dealers
including cancellation of their licenses for irregularities since March.

Two cases have been filed against the culprits while a process is underway
to take stern action against four others.
