DHAKA, April 11, 2020 (BSS) – LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam
today sounded a note of warning against those public representatives and
officials and employees of local administrations who would be found engaged
in irregularities and corruption in relief goods distribution during the
coronavirus outbreak.

He came up with the warning while talking to journalists at his official
residence in the city.

The minister said the Local Government Division (LGD) has issued an order
to this end as Bangladesh is going through a crisis period like the entire
world due to outbreak of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

“We all are making all-out coordinated efforts to slow the spread of the
deadly virus,” the minister added.

However, the LGD in its office order said ministries and subordinate and
local government bodies are distributing relief goods, including rice, cash
money and baby food, with their own finance among jobless people across the
country due to the nationwide shutdown triggered by Covid-19 outbreak.

But it was noticed through newspapers and social media as well that public
representatives and officials and employees of the local government bodies in
some areas are getting involved in irregularities and corruption in relief
goods distribution.
