Efforts intensified to maintain social distancing in Khulna

KHULNA, April 06, 2020 (BSS) – The armed forces and law enforcement
agencies continued their enhanced efforts to assist the civil administrations
for ensuring social distancing to prevent community transmission of
coronavirus (COVID-19) in the division.

Officials said the members of the armed forces, RAB-6, Police, Coast
Guard, local government bodies and voluntary organisations have exclusively
reinforced efforts to ensure social distancing by restricting movement of
people and inspiring them to stay home.

Divisional Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Anwar Hossain Howlader said maximum
emphasis has been put on ensuring social distancing to prevent community
transmission of COVID-19 and providing food to the needy, distressed and
jobless people.

“The armed forces, district, health, police and upazila administrations,
local government bodies and other organisations are working sincerely in this
regard,” he said.

Meanwhile, a total of 9,792 expatriates have been released, so far, from
home quarantine out of the total 12,977 to prevent community transmission of
coronavirus (COVID-19) in Khulna division.

Talking to BSS today, Assistant Director (Health) in Khulna division Dr.
Ferdousi Akther said a total of 9,792 expatriates have been released from
home-quarantine, 40 from institutional quarantine and 16 others from
isolation unit till 8am today in the division as they showed no coronavirus
symptoms.

Meanwhile, 423 expatriates were kept in home-quarantine in last 24 hours
in the division.

Of them, 29 were kept in home -quarantine in Khulna, 20 in Bagerhat, 54 in
Satkhira, 18 in Jashore, two in Jhenaidah, three in Narail, four in Chuadanga
and nine in Meherpur districts.

With them, a total of 12,977 expatriates were quarantined at homes so far
in the division and 423 were given released in the last 24 hours as they
showed no symptoms of coronavirus after their stay in home-quarantine for 14
days, Ferdousi said.
