RpMP launches home delivery of essentials

RANGPUR, April 1, 2020 (BSS) – Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) today launched a home delivery service program to help citizens get daily essentials, kitchen goods and medicines at their doorsteps by booking over mobile phones.

The service has been launched to assist the citizens in staying home and maintain social distancing to prevent community transmission of deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) for their own safety and keeping others safe.

Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud inaugurated the unique service at a brief function by affixing leaflets with mobile phone numbers at 33 battery-run auto-rickshaws for all 33 wards of the metropolitan city.

Additional Police Commissioner of RpMP Abu Sufian, its Deputy Police Commissioner Mahidul Islam, Assistant Police Commissioner (DB) Altaf Hossain and other police officials were present in the function at RpMP office premises.

The RpMP chief said drivers of all 33 battery-run auto-rickshaws are moving across the city and any citizen can call at the mobile phone numbers affixed at the vehicles to book their necessary goods and get those staying home.

After getting phone calls from the citizens, the auto-rickshaw drivers will note lists of necessary essentials and goods and buy those from the respective shops or markets to reach the citizens’ doorsteps within the shortest possible time.

If the prices of booked essentials and goods are low, the drivers will purchase those at their own money and come to the citizen’s house to deliver those and get the price with cash memo and appropriate fair for transportation.

When prices of the booked essentials and goods are high, the drivers will come to the citizen’s house first to take only one person with them and go to the required places to complete the purchase and come back to the citizen’s house and get the fairs.

“All these activities for home delivery service will be conducted abiding by the health directives of the government and properly maintaining social distancing to prevent community transmission of COVID-19,” Alim added.
