Shahab Uddin distributes essentials among 1,700 families in Moulvibazar
DHAKA, April 01, 2020 (BSS) – Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin today distributed essential commodities among around 1,700 poor families at Barolekha and Juri upazilas in Moulvibazar.
The minister gave the food assistance to 1,100 families of Barolekha upazila and 600 families of Juri upazila through local Awami League leaders. Every family got 10kg rice, 5 kg potato and 2 kg pulse, a ministry press release said here.
Earlier in the day, personal protective equipments (PPE) were distributed among the doctors and health workers of the hospitals and Civil Surgeon Office of Moulvibazar and the health complexes of Barolekha and Juri upazilas.
On the occasion, Shahab Uddin, in a video message, said the government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been distributing foods and essential commodities among the poor and hapless people and day-labourers during the ongoing coronavirus situation.
He said no person will starve in the country as the government will continue distribution of relief materials among the hapless and poor people during the crisis period.
Calling upon the people to stay at their respective homes, the environment minister said: “If you have any emergency, you can go out of home but have to maintain social distancing during your movement.”
He hoped that the government would be able to tackle the ongoing coronavirus situation with cooperation from all.
