Dead woman of Harirampur not COVID-19 patient: Physician

MANIKGANJ, March 31, 2020 (BSS) – The woman, who died with symptoms of fever and cough in Harirampur Upazila of the district, was not a coronavirus) patient,
Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr. Anwarul Amin Akanda confirmed it today.

Nobody in the district so far died of coronavirus, he added.

The family of the victim and district health department sources said, a
woman, aged 26, of Harirampur upazila was suffering from fever and cough for
four days.

At first, she was given treatment by a local village physician. On Sunday
morning as her condition deteriorated, she was taken to Gilando Monno Medical
College Hospital where the attending doctor declared her dead.

Deputy Director of Monno Medical College Hospital SM Moniruzzaman said the
woman was taken to the hospital as dead. She was having the symptoms of
Coronavirus such as cough, respiratory problem and loose motion. So, the
sample was taken.

The Civil Surgeon said that for confirmation, whether the patient was
attacked with COVID-19 or not, the sample was sent to IECDR. On Monday IECDR
informed the victim was not a COVID-19 patient. Meanwhile, the village was
brought under lockdown by the Harirampur Upazila Administration on Sunday and
the members of the family were kept in quarantine.

Today (Tuesday) the lockdown of the village was lifted. But the family
members are in home quarantine.

Anwarul Amin Akanda said a total of 1156 overseas returnees were sent to
keep in home quarantine in seven upazilas and two municipalities of the
district till March 31 to prevent further spread of coronavirus. Of them 946
were released and 210 are remaining in home quarantine.
