Red Crescent conducting awareness campaigns to prevent COVID-19

DHAKA, March 31, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is carrying
out various campaigns to create awareness among the people about novel
coronavirus (COVID-19).

Their campaigns include sending messages to the people through social
media to prevent this deadly virus.

The authorities of the Red Crescent Society said they are circulating
awareness messages on COVID-19 from their official Facebook page.

Besides, they are also conducting Facebook live programmes, circulating
various awareness TV commercials made with the participation of renowned
personalities, said a press release.

The Society said they have so far been able to send life saving awareness
messages to over one lakh people using social media. Besides, they are also
conducting various campaigns like countrywide distribution of leaflets,
conducting awareness campaigns through loudspeakers, installing basins in
various places for washing hands, straying disinfectant liquid.

As part of its series of operations to prevent and control COVID-19, the
volunteers of Red Crescent Society sprayed disinfectant in various parts of
the capital, including Mugda and Dhanmondi.

Besides, the volunteers of Red Crescent Society and Biddanando Foundation
jointly sprayed disinfectant at eight hospitals in the capital, including
Kurmitola General Hospital, Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College and
Hospital, Kuwait Moitree Hospital, Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Sir
Salimullah Medical College and Hospital.

The Society has also imparted necessary training to some 500 of its
volunteers, officials and employees as well as the midwives and employees of
its 56 Red Crescent Mother and Child Care Centers to fight COVID-19 side by
side providing them with soaps, hand sanitizers and masks.

The release said Bangladesh Red Crescent Society along with the government
of Bangladesh has been conducting various campaigns in 13 coastal districts
to prevent COVID-19.

Besides, steps have been taken to create awareness among the forcibly
displaced Rohingyas now staying in various camps in Cox’s Bazar.

Training has so far been imparted to 1761 CPP volunteers on hand washing
and COVID-19 while some 80,576 piece of awareness posters and leaflets have
been distributed among the Rohingyas and 40,500 pieces of posters and
leaflets have been distributed among the host communities.
