Home-quarantine number of migrants reducing in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, March 30, 2020 (BSS) – The number of released migrants in home
quarantine are reducing in the district.

“A total of 1,288 migrants were kept under home quarantine in the district.
Of them, 938 were released with no coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms from home
quarantine,” said Civil Surgeon Dr A B M Moshiul Alam.

The installation works of a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine have
been progressing fast at the Microbiology Department of Mymensingh Medical
College (MMC) said Chittaranjan Devnath, Principal of MCC.

The setting of PCR is likely to be completed within three days, he said
adding that testing of Covid-19 infection is expected to begin from next
Wednesday.

Besides, the district administration has begun distribution of rice and
food items here among poor people including day labourers under Social
Assistance Programme.

District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Abul Kalam Azad told BSS that
under the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a total of 440 metric
tons rice and cash amounting to Taka over 15 lakh has already been sanctioned
for this purposes.
