6,860 people kept in home quarantine in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, March 30, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 6,860 people have been put
under home quarantine in all eight districts under Rajshahi division till 8
am today since March 10 last to prevent community transmission of coronavirus
(COVID-19).

Of them, 3,315 were given clearance certificates after expiry of their
14-day quarantine till this morning in the division during the same period,
said Divisional Director of Health Dr Gopendra Nath Acharya.

Meanwhile, a total of 135 new persons have been kept under home
quarantine including four institutional ones and 470 other patients were
released in the division in the last 24 hours till this morning.

Among the new ones, 51 have been home-quarantined in Rajshahi, two in
Chapainawabganj, 14 in Natore, 29 in Joypurhat, 20 in Bogura, 10 in Sirajganj
and nine in Pabna district.

Dr Gopen Acharya said a hectic measure has been adopted to bring all the
migrants and other suspects under home quarantine to stem the virus spread.

He also said comprehensive efforts are continuing to ensure following
the health related guidelines like staying at home, social distancing and
washing hands with water and soap.

The law-enforcing agencies have also intensified their activities to
enforce the health related directives everywhere in the division aimed at
curbing the virus outbreak.

Rajshahi City Corporation has adopted diversified measures, including
creating awareness among the public in general through distribut6ing leaflets
and using loudspeakers.

Masks and sanitizers are being distributed among the health, conservancy
workers and the city dwellers. Booths for using hand sanitizers by the
roaming people were set up on 26 spots across the city.

Disinfectant Spraying Drive has been continuing on the city streets
through using three water-tanks, one Jed and a police water-tank since last
week.
