KHULNA, March 30, 2020 (BSS) – As comprehensive efforts are continuing to
ensure social distancing, a total of 372 expatriates were sent to home-
quarantine in the last 24 hours in the division to prevent community
transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Along with the assistance of the Armed Forces, government authorities,
autonomous bodies, voluntary organisations, political leaders and public
representatives are conducting activities to contain coronavirus spread.
Talking to BSS today, Assistant Director (Disease Control) of Directorate
General of Health Services (DGHS) in Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akther said
a total of 372 expatriates have been kept under home-quarantine in last 24
hours in all ten districts of Khulna division.
Among them, 18 expatriates have been placed at home -quarantine in Khulna,
45 in Bagerhat, 152 in Satkhira, 83 in Jashore, 5 in Magura, 42 in Narail, 15
in Chuadanga and 12 in Meherpur districts.
With them, a total of 11,373 expatriates were quarantined at homes so far
in the division and of them, 762 were given clearance in last 24 hours as
they were found no symptoms of coronavirus after their stay in home
quarantine for 14 days, she said.
Among the home quarantined 11,373 expatriates, 1,776 overseas returnees
have been placed at home-quarantine in Khulna, 1,400 in Bagerhat, 2,541 in
Satkhira, 2,329 in Jashore, 953 in Jhenaidah , 396 in Magura, 455 in Narail,
659 in Kustia, 385 in Chuadanga and 479 in Meherpur districts in the
division.
The armed forces are assisting the civil administrations alongside with
comprehensive efforts of authorities concerned in ensuring expats quarantine
and maintaining social distancing to prevent community transmission of COVID-
19 in Khulna division.
At the same time, Khulna City Corporation, Khulna Metropolitan Police,
District Police, upazila administrations, municipalities and voluntary
organisations are working to tackle spread of the deadly virus.
The ongoing efforts include motivation of common people to raise their
awareness, distribution of leaflets and masks, spraying antibiotics on roads
and in public places, conducting hand-washing and cleanliness campaign to
prevent contagion of COVID-19.
