Disinfection drive to continue in country: Tajul

DHAKA, March 28, 2020 (BSS) – Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam today said necessary disinfection programmes will be conducted to control germs in the country during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Wherever the germs exist in the country, those will be eliminated by spraying (germicide),” he told journalists in front of the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) building at Karwan Bazar here while visiting the germicide spraying programme of WASA.

The minister said disinfectant water is being sprayed on the main roads of the capital to contain the COVID-19 virus.

“We have to protect ourselves from the coronavirus pandemic. Awareness among people is needed. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the leaders of various organizations and the administration, law enforcers, public representatives and media activists have been working relentlessly to this end,” he added.

A total of 50 water tanks have been installed on the city roads for hand washing under the initiative of WASA, he said, adding that about 20 vehicles are being used by WASA to spray disinfectant water in different streets of the city.
