DHAKA, March 27, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) has issued a special directive to its member to keep their factories shut till April 4 in a bid to check the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
BKMEA President AKM Salim Osman, MP, issued this directive in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in the country, said a BKMEA press release today.
Salim said it has to be ensured that the factory workers remain in their respective places during this period.
“The factory workers must be convinced that these are not holidays like the Eid or any other festival. So, everyone should stay in his or her respective homes,” he said.
The BKMEA president said it is now the duty and responsibility of all to protect the country and its people from the negative impact of global pandemic COVID-19.
“If the people remain alive, then the industries will remain alive and thus the country will be prosperous. For this, the government keeps shut all the institutions and organizations for the sake of the country,” he added.
Salim mentioned that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced a huge stimulus package for protecting the country’s export-oriented industries from the adverse impacts of this deadly virus.
Under the circumstances, the BKMEA has taken a decision to keep factories of its member shut till April 4 in line with the government’s decision to save the people of the country.
