RAJSHAHI, March 26, 2020 (BSS) – The National Flag today hoisted to mark the Independence and National Day 2020 here.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the divisional and district administrations suspended all the scheduled programmes to celebrate the Independence Day earlier.
So, various political, social, cultural and professional bodies couldn’t observe their chalked out programmes like placing of floral wreaths at the altar of the city’s Shaheed Miners like the previous years to pay homage to the great sons of the soil.
Meanwhile, the divisional and district administrations arranged a national flag hoisting programme at Circuit House in limited scale this morning.
Divisional Commissioner Humayun Kabir Khandaker accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shahidullah, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Sazid Hossain and valiant Freedom Fighter Dr Abul Mannan hoisted the national flag reciting the national anthem.
Meanwhile, a total of 77 new persons have been put under home quarantine in the district totaling the number to 440, informed Dr Enamul Haque, Civil Surgeon of Rajshahi.
He said, a total of 605 persons have so far been taken under home quarantine, of them, 165 were released. However, till 8:00 am on Thursday, there was no report of any new confirmed coronavirus patient in the district.
A total of 39 new persons have been brought under home quarantine in Rajshahi city area totaling the present number to 189 while 151 others were released from the total 340 home quarantined in the metropolis.
