Seven killed in Bagura road accidents

BAGURA, March 25, 2020 (BSS) – At least seven people were killed and 13
others injured in two separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Bogura highway
under Sherpur upazila of the district today.

Police said four people died on the spot and 11 others injured in Ghoga
Bottola area when a salt-laden truck collided head on with a Dhaka-bound
passenger bus at about 11.45am.

The injured were admitted to Shahid Zia Medical College and Hospital where
two others succumbed to their injuries.

Among the deceased five were identified as Abdul Alim, Rakib Islam, M Raju,
Saddam Hossain and Manjurul Islam. All are resident of Jaldhaka upazila in
Nilphamari district.

Being informed, four units of Fire Brigade and Civil Defence rushed to the
spot and recovered the bodies and rescued the injured persons, said Inspector
Yeamin Ud-Dawla of Bagura Highway Police

Besides, youth Mridul Islam, 22, died on the spot in Mohipur area of the
same upazila early this morning when two speeding trucks collided head on.
Four passengers of both vehicles were also injured in the accident, said
Humayun Kabir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherpur Police Station.

Police seized all the vehicles and sent the bodies to Shahid Zia Medical
College and Hospital morgue for autopsy. Two separate cases were lodged with
Sherpur Police Station in these connections.
