21 shops gutted in Faridpur
FARIDPUR, March 25, 2020 (BSS) – Twenty-one shops were gutted in a fire
which broke out at Kanaipur Bazar under Sadar upazila of the district last
night.
Md. Nizamuddin, assistant director (AD) of Faridpur Fire Service and Civil
Defense, said the fire might be originated from an electric short-circuit at
a shoe shop in the area and spread quickly to adjoining shops around 9.30pm.
On information, five firefighters units went to the spot and extinguished
the blaze after two hours of their frantic efforts, he added.
Superintendent of Police Md. Alimuzzaman, Sadar UNO Masum Reza, among
others, visited the spot.
Fakir Md Belayet Hossain, chairman of Kanaipur Union Parishad, told BSS
that the fire damaged around 21 of different shops including shoe, cosmetic,
hardware, rice godown, electronics and medicine shops etc.
Although the loss is not estimated yet, he said.
