DHAKA, March 24, 2020 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said his party has cancelled all political programmes considering the people’s health security in view of the global outbreak of the coronavirus.
“Awami League (AL) has cancelled all political programmes considering the health security of the country’s people as the whole world is now going through a severe crisis with the deadly outbreak of coronavirus,” he said in a statement on the eve of the Genocide Day tomorrow.
Noting that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to ensure security of the people’s life and health, Quader said under her leadership, AL is taking the country forward with the spirit of the Liberation War upholding the historical truth, ignoring all hurdles.
Paying homage to the memories of the 30 lakh martyrs of the Liberation War and the martyrs of the black night of March 25, he said, “Pledge of this year’s Independence Day should be responsible in facing the global catastrophe being abided by health rules”.
He urged the countrymen to fight the novel coronavirus with patience.
