1,431 expats home quarantined in Khulna

KHULNA, March 24, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 1,431 expatriate Bangladeshi
nationals were sent to keep in home-quarantine under nine upazilas and two
metropolis of the district till 8am on March 24 to prevent the spread of
novel coronavirus.

Of them, a total of 827 expatriates have been kept under the home-
quarantine in last 24 hours and as many as 31 were so far given clearance
after maintaining the condition of home quarantine for 14 days, said an
official of Khulna Civil Surgeon Office today.

Of the total, 80 expatriates have been placed at home-quarantine in Dakop
upazila, 59 in Batiaghata upazila, 92 in Rupsha upazila, 19 in Terokhada
upazila, 37 in Digholia upazila, 36 in Fultola upazila, 24 in Dumuria
upazila, 101 in Paikgacha upazila, 144 in Koyra upazila and 839 in Khulna
City Corporation area, Civil Surgeon Office sources said.

Civil Surgeon (CS) of Khulna Dr. Sujat Ahmed suggested for creating
awareness at the community levels to ensure cent percent 14-day home or
institutional quarantines of migrants to prevent community spread of COVID-19
for avoiding a disastrous situation.

Putting stress on creating community awareness about the severity of COVID-
19, Dr. Sujat requested everyone not to become panicked and comply with
health directives of the government to prevent the novel coronavirus spread.

Discouraging the people to attend all kinds of public gatherings, meetings
and rallies, the Civil Surgeon urged all to avoid public transport and try to
maintain one-meter distance from one person to another.
