Indictment order in Kalyanpur militant den raid case April 23

DHAKA, March 23, 2020 (BSS) – A special tribunal here today set April 23
for passing order on indictment in a case lodged over casualties caused after
law enforcement agencies’ raid in a militant den at capital’s Kalyanpur area.

Today was fixed for passing the order, but police refrained from
producing the accused from jail amid the ongoing coronavirus fear. Judge
Mojibur Rahman of Dhakka Anti-terrorism Tribunal then adjourned the
proceedings till April 23.

Investigation officer (IO) and police’s Counter Terrorism and
Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit inspector Mohammad Jahangir Alam filed charge
in the case on April 11, 2019.

The accused are Rakibul Hasan Rigan, 21, Salahuddin Kamra, 30, Abdur
Rouf Prodhan, 63, Aslam Hossain alias Rashed alias Rash, 20, Shariful Islam
alias Khaled alias Solaiman, 25, Mamunur Rashid Ripon, 30, Azadul Kabiraj,
28, Mufti Abul Kashem alias Boro Hujur, 60, Abdus Sobur Khan Hasan, 33, and
Hadisur Rahman Sagar, 40. Of these, Khaled, Ripon and Kabiraj are yet to be
arrested. The IO has pleaded to issue arrest warrant against them.

A total of nine militants were killed as law enforcing agencies
conducted raid at now infamous Jahaj Building militant den on Road-5 in
capital’s Kalyanpur area on July 25, 2016. Another militant was injured and
was arrested. All of them were members of banned militant outfit neo-JMB.

Mirpur Model Police Station inspector (operation) Md Shah Jalal Alam
filed the case on July 27, 2016, against 10.
