Khulna divisional meeting for preventing coronavirus outbreak held

KHULNA, March 23, 2020 (BSS) – A divisional-level committee meeting was
held on Sunday afternoon centering the Covid-19 outbreak through a video
conference considering to the public health at the auditorium of Divisional
Commissioner Office.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Anwar Hossain Howlader
presided over the meeting while Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr Mohid
Uddin, Police Commissioner Dr. Khondkar Lutful Kabir, Divisional Director of
Directorate of General Health services (DGHS) Dr. Rasheda Sultana and
divisional-level high officials, among others, were present in the meeting.

Some major issues including creating awareness among the people, market
monitoring, following of home quarantine and public gathering were discussed
at the meeting.

Commissioner of Khulna Division gave the directives to all concerned
through a videoconferencing.

All deputy commissioners, police supers and civil surgeons in the division
have been asked to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty
to enforce the government directives to prevent the pandemic novel
coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

He urged all to inform the divisional, district, upazila administrations
and health officials about the arrival of the overseas returnees without
delay to keep them in quarantine to check COVID-19 outbreak.

Stern actions would be taken against the returnees from abroad if they move
freely without the ‘stay at home’ (home quarantine) rules for 14 days, he
warned.

“Besides, different committee has been formed in the division to strictly
monitoring and ensuring home quarantine with necessary equipment,” he said,
adding that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), masks and hand sanitizers
will be distributed as soon among the doctors, nurses, health workers and
isolation beds are ready to face any situation due to the coronavirus.

In his remarks, Anwar Hossain Howlader said necessary measures should be
taken to stop hoarding of essential commodities and its soaring prices.

He warned that stern actions will be taken against those who will be
involved in hiking price of the essentials and spreading rumours centering
the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Divisional Commissioner requested all the authorities and agencies
concerned including the law-enforcement agencies to come forward and work
together to tackle the deadly virus in the division.
