DHAKA, Mar 22, 2020 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today
said the government is going to introduce a new cell on the COVID-19 aiming
to create awareness of the deadly virus.
“Our ministry has a rumour prevention cell. Despite that, we are going to
open a new cell on coronavirus to increase awareness of the deadly virus. A
circular will be issued in this regard,” he said.
The information minister was addressing a view-exchange meeting with
journalists on the contemporary affairs held at the Secretariat here.
He said the cell include representatives from the all public agencies,
while it will work under the supervision of information ministry in
coordination with the coronavirus prevention taskforce.
Hasan, also the Awami League joint general secretary, said the World Health
Organisation (WHO) did not suggest any lockdown in Bangladesh.
The WHO officials at a meeting discussed what would be the future course of
action to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country, he added.
