Govt restricts foreigners’ entry through land ports

DHAKA, March 22, 2020 (BSS) – In view of the outbreak of the epidemic coronavirus (COVID-19) across the world, the government has restricted entry of foreign citizens through the land ports across the country to prevent further spread of the deadly disease.

“Entry of foreign citizens through the country’s all land ports in operation – Benapole, Bhomra, Banglabandha, Hili, Burimari, Raumari, Darsana, Nakugaon, Tamabil, Shewla and Akhaura – has been prohibited starting on Sunday (today) as a part of awareness measures to control further infection of coronavirus inside Bangladesh,” said a notification signed by Monira Haque, senior assistant secretary (immigration) of Home Ministry’s Security Services Division.

The ban will remain in force until further notice, the notification read.
