100 overseas returnees go on home quarantine in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA, March 22, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 100 overseas returnees as of
yesterday have gone on home quarantine in all the seven upazilas of the
district to check spread of coronavirus.
The expatriates have recently returned from China, Italy, Malaysia and
other Middle East countries and they have been placed at their respective
homes in self-isolation, official sources said.
Earlier, as many as 22 overseas returnees coming from various countries
were released as they maintained the condition of staying home quarantine for
14 days, sources added.
Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr. ABM Abu Hanif said precautionary measures have been
taken at the district hospital including ansar and VDP barrack and training
center of Department of Youth Development with necessary equipment to face
any situation due to coronavirus.
He discouraged people to attend all kinds of public gatherings, meetings
and rallies, urging all to avoid public transport and try to maintain one-
meter distance from one another.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin urged all to inform the
district and upazila administrations and health officials about the arrival
of the overseas returnees without delay to keep them in quarantine to check
the coronavirus outbreak.
Stern actions would be taken against the returnees from abroad if they move
freely without staying in quarantine for 14 days, he warned.
