BCB to follow remote working policy amid coronavirus fear

DHAKA, March 21, 2020 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided
to allow its staff to stay home and work remotely as a precautionary measure
amid the rising concern of coronavirus spread in the country.

Through a media release on Saturday, the BCB said, “In response to the
evolving COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, the BCB has instructed its staff to
work remotely until further notice from Sunday.”

“Exceptions will be made only for work that cannot be executed effectively
outside the office environment,” the media release added.

Earlier on Thursday, following an emergency meeting, the BCB had called off
all cricketing activities in the country including ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka
Premier League (DPL) for an indefinite time as a preventive measure to combat
against coronavirus, which affected almost whole world, leaving the life of
the people standstill.

Bangladesh has so far registered 24 people infected with the virus, of
which two died and three have recovered.

Coronavirus has infected 275,871 people around the globe according to
worldometer, as of Saturday. Of them, 172,561 are currently treated with
7,765 being in serious or critical condition.

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus
crisis a pandemic.
