Ireland to take decision on Bangladesh’s tour: BCB CEO

DHAKA, March 21, 2020 (BSS)- Even though the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)
is adopting a ‘wait and see’ policy regarding the Tigers’ tour of Ireland and
England in May, the announcement of postponement of the series is likely to
come very soon.

Bangladesh is scheduled to play three-match ODI and four-match T20
International series in this tour, starting from May 15. The T20 series was
scheduled to be held in four venues of England due to the venue renovation of
Ireland at that time.

But the England Cricket Board (ECB) on Saturday announced that no
professional cricket will be played in England or Wales before May 28 in
light of the coronavirus pandemic, which left the tour’s future at uncertain
state.

“Ireland Cricket Board will take the decision about this series. They know
well whether it is possible to arrange the tour,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin
Chowdhury said here on Saturday.

“We’ve already contacted with the Ireland Cricket Board. But just now we
came to know that ECB has taken a decision in this regard. Hopefully Ireland
will let us know the outcome of the tour,” he added.
