Showing, carrying firearms from March 20 to 23 banned during by-polls
DHAKA, March 19, 2020 (BSS) – The government has asked licensed firearm holders not to show and carry their firearms publicly from 6am March 20 to 12 midnight March 23 during the by-polls to Bagerhat-4, Gaibandha-3 and Dhaka-10 constituencies.
The announcement was made through a press release by political wing of the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry on Wednesday.
The government also warned legal actions under the Arms Act, 1878 against those who will violate the order, and carry and display their firearms during the stipulated period, the statement said.
Earlier, the Election Commission announced the schedule for holding by elections to Bagerhat-4, Gaibandha-3 and Dhaka-10 constituencies, as those fell vacant, it said.
