Bangabandhu’s opponents will be mired in debris: Hasan

DHAKA, March 18, 2020 (BSS) – Retorting those who did not deliver speeches on the occasion of the Mujib Year, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said those, who failed to recognize Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, would themselves be mired in debris of the history.

“When heads of different states, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the United Nations (UN) Secretary General delivered speeches on Bangabandhu… Modi particularly said Bangabandhu is a source of inspiration for the people around the globe yesterday on the occasion of the beginning of the Mujib Year. But BNP-Jamaat has failed to accept this statement,” he said.

Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, said that those who failed to accept the estimation of the world leaders on Bangabandhu would themselves be perished gradually.

The information minister was addressing a discussing as the chief guest at the Jatiya Press Club here, marking the 18th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra (A center for women journalists, Bangladesh).

Noting that there was no lacking of enthusiasm among the country’s people in their observance of the ‘Mujib Year’ despite growing panic over the outbreak of epidemic coronavirus across the globe, he said the nation recalled the greatest Bengali of all times Father of the Nation Bangabandhu with due respect.

The nation will also celebrate the ‘Mujib Year’ through various programmes throughout the year, he said, adding, “A vested quarter, who wanted to erase Bangabandhu, has failed to do so”.

The defeated forces of independence, including BNP-Jamaat, who wanted to erase Bangabandhu and were involved with his gruesome killing, are gradually being disappeared from the public sphere, Hasan continued.

When the world leaders were highly praising Bangabandhu, the information minister said, BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and other BNP leaders kept mum over the celebrations of the Mujib Year.

Instead of speaking about the significance of the Mujib Year, they (BNP leaders) blamed the government that it is playing hide and seek over the outbreak of coronavirus.

Mentioning that the government is informing the update of coronavirus situation by holding press conference everyday and giving directives to control the outbreak, he said BNP is only spreading malice through distributing leaflets instead of praising the government and standing by the people.

“In the Mujib Year, we hope that BNP will shun politics of hatred, negativity, saying no to everything, conspiracy and killing,” Hasan added.

Recalling Bangabandhu’s contributions to the women empowerment and creating reserved seats for women in parliament, the information minister said Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ensured participation of the women full to brim at different levels of the society and state.

Referring to different international statistical data, he said Bangladesh is second among the Muslim states in terms of women advancement while it is top among the developing countries.

Greeting the women journalists, the information minister said of the total volume of works globally women perform its 70 percent.

A working woman manages her family affairs besides performing her duty in office, he said.

Nari Sangbadik Kendra President Nasimun Ara Haque Minu presided over the discussion while journalist Mizanur Rahman Mazumder took part in the discussion, among others.
