US Postal Service releases postmark with Bangabandhu’s photo

DHAKA, March 18, 2020 (BSS) – The United States Postal Service (USPS) has published a special pictorial postmark with Bangabandhu’s photograph announcing March 17 as International Bangabandhu Day to glorify the birth centenary of the great leader of Bangladesh.

The commemorative postmark was published on March 17 from Jackson Heights Post Office in New York responding to the call of Muktodhara Foundation, an organization of Bangladesh expatriates in New York, said a press release here today.

Bangladesh President M Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, Bangladesh Ambassador in Washington D.C. Mohammad Ziauddin, Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the United Nations Rabab Fatima and Consul General of Bangladesh in New York Sadia Faizunnesa and other distinguished personalities were given the postal cards.

The programme began with paying homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by lacing wreaths at his portrait at Jackson Heights Post Office at 11am under the initiative of Muktodhara Foundation.
