Deal signed to build 500-bed hospital on railway land in Ctg

DHAKA, March 18, 2020 (BSS) – An agreement between Bangladesh Railway (BR)) and United Enterprise Limited (UEL) was signed today to build a 500-bed hospital through Public Private Partnership (PPP) on the land of railway in Chattogram.

In the presence of Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan, BR Additional Chief Engineer (bridge and project director) Ahsan Zabir and UEL Managing Director Moinuddin Hasan Rashid signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides, said a press release here.

According to the release, a 500-bed hospital and 100-seat medical college will be built on six acres land at the CRB area in Chattogram at a cost of Taka 398.98 crore. After 50 years, the developer company will hand over the hospital and the medical college to Bangladesh Railway.

Officials of the Railways Ministry and Bangladesh Railway will get 20 percent discount while taking healthcare services at the hospital.

Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony, Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan said it is not possible for the government to take the country forward alone. Individuals and institutions should come forward in this regard, he added.

Chief Executive Officer of PPP Authority Muhammad Alkama Siddiqui, Senior Secretary of Railways Ministry Md Mofazzel Hossain, BR Director General Md Shamsuzzaman and other officials concerned were present on the occasion.
