100 Hafezes recite Quran on Bangabandhu’s birth centenary

DHAKA, March 17, 2020 (BSS) – Hundred of the country’s noted Hafezes today recited the holy Quran (Quran Khatam) respectively at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque here, marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

After the Quran Khatam, a special doa and munajat were offered there seeking the eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his martyred family members, said a press release of Islamic Foundation.

Baitul Mukarram National Mosque senior pesh imam Moulana Mizanur Rahman conducted the doa and munajat.

Religious Affairs Secretary Md Nurul Islam, additional secretary of the Religious Affairs Ministry Dr Mozammel Hossain, governor of Islamic Foundation’s Board of Governors Siraj Uddin Ahmad, Islamic Foundation director general Anis Mahmud and joint secretary Md Jahir Ahmed, among others, took part in the doa and munajat.

Earlier in the day, Islamic Foundation director general Anis Mahmud opened ‘Bangabandhu Corner’ at the central library of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
