Bangabandhu’s birth centenary celebrated in Tokyo

DHAKA, March 17, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh mission in Tokyo today celebrated the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day 2020 in a befitting manner.

Charge d’ Affaires of the Bangladesh Embassy in Japan mission Dr. Sahida Akter inaugurated program of the day by hoisting the national flag along with national anthem on the mission premises, according to a message received here.

Officials of the mission paid tribute to the Bangladesh founding father by placing wreaths at his portrait.

Messages issued by President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs on the occasion were also read out.

Later, the mission held a discussion on life and achievement of Bangabandhu and his struggle over Bangladesh’s independence that was also participated by Bangladeshi expatriates residing in different parts of Japan.

The embassy scaled down the birth centenary celebration program amid the outbreak of deadly COVID-19 virus.
