Bangabandhu’s birth centenary celebrated across country

DHAKA, Mar 17, 2020 (BSS) – As part of the yearlong programme, the birth
centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and
National Children’s Day-2020 was celebrated today across the country amid
fanfare and gaiety coinciding with the national programmes.

In Rangpur, the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day-2020 was celebrated here in
a befitting manner amid huge enthusiasm and festivity.

The district administration, Awami League (AL), Rangpur City Corporation,
Rangpur Cantonment, educational institutions and other organisations
celebrated the birth centenary of Bangabandhu as per the revised programmes.

The 100th birth anniversary celebration began with 31 gun salutes after
the sunrise followed by hoisting of the national flag at all government,
semi- government and private buildings in the city.

In Rajshahi, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day-2020 was celebrated here in a
befitting manner.

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), Divisional and district administrations,
corporate bodies, educational institutions, Awami League (AL) its associate
organisations, Bangabandhu Shishu Kishor Mela, socio-cultural and children
organisations have celebrated the day through elaborate programmes.

The day’s programmes heralded with 31 gunshots at district police line at
dawn. Subsequently, national flags were hoisted atop all public and private
buildings.

Other programmes include placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu,
cutting birthday cake, tree plantation, unfolding of books on year-round
programmes of Mujib Borsho, screening of documentary films and illumination
of important government, non-government and autonomous buildings and
installations.

In Gaibandha, the celebration of Mujib Year officially termed as ‘Mujib
Borsho’, birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman, is being celebrated in the district as elsewhere in the country today
with due respect.

Marking the celebration, Awami League and its associate bodies, district
administration and socio-cultural organizations chalked out various
programmes.

In the morning at 8.30 am, deputy commissioner Abdul Matin paid rich
tributes by placing floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman on DB Road, adjacent to Poura Park of the town on behalf of
the district administration.

Later, superintendent of police (SP) Towhidul Islam, general secretary of
district unit of Awami League Abu Bakar Siddique and mayor of Gaibandha
Municipality Adv Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon placed floral wreaths at the
portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of district police.

Afterward, a Mujib Corner was opened at the District Collectorate Building
here around 11 am. DC Abdul Matin formally inaugurated the corner through
unveiling a plaque and cutting a red tape as the chief guest.

In Netrokona, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day-2020 was celebrated here with
due respect.

Netrakona district administration, district Awami League and it’s front
organizations, different socio-cultural organizations, professional groups
and educational institutions celebrated the day through various programmes.

State minister for Social Welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, MP, paid tributes
by placing a wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the Mukta Mancha.

Later, Habiba Rahman Khan Shefali, MP, deputy commissioner of Netrakona
Main-UL-Islam, police super Netrakona Akber Ali Munshi, Mayor of Netrakona
municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, president of district unit of Awami League
Motiur Rahman Khan placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
District administration organized a discussion meeting marking the Mujib
Borsha at local public hall here.

In Bogura, Thengamara Mohila Sabuj Sangha (TMSS) has taken an initiative to
provide training to 10,000 students on computer application course on the
occasion of the birth centenary celebration of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Additional deputy commissioner (education and ICT) of Bogura district
Masum Ali Begum formally inaugurated the two-month training at a function
here today.

TMSS Executive Director Prof Hosne-Ara Begum, Director of Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) of TMSS Nigar Sultana and senior officials,
among others, were present on the occasion.

The students, who appeared in Secondary School Certificate (SSC)
examination this year, will be given the IT training for free, Nigar Sultana
told BSS.

In Jamalpur, the celebration of Mujib Year, birth centenary of Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed in the district in
a befitting manner.

Marking the celebration, Awami League and its associate bodies, district
administration and socio-cultural organizations chalked out various
programmes.

In the morning, Awami League and its associate bodies, district
administration, police administration, educational institutions, Jamalpur
municipality and Jamalpur Press Club placed floral wreath at the portrait of
Bangabandhu.

A discussion meeting was also held in the conference room of Deputy
commissioner.
