Academics call for following Bangabandhu’s ideals

RANGPUR, March 17, 2020 (BSS) – Academics of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) today urged the younger generations to follow ideals of Bangabandhu in realizing his dream for building a prosperous Sonar Bangla.

They made the call in the functions organised in celebration of the birth
centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and
National Children’s Day- 2020 at the university campus in the city.

The BRUR authority chalked out programmes including placing of wreaths at
the mural of Bangabandhu, plantation of 100 tree saplings, offering special
prayers at the central Jam-e-Mosque and illumination of the campus .

Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah
inaugurated the celebrations by hoisting of the national flag followed by
placing of wreaths at the under-construction mural of Bangabandhu on the
campus as the chief guest.

Later, Deans of different faculties, Heads of different Departments,
leaders of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association (BRUTA), Officers’
Association, and Employees’ Association, Muktijuddher Chetonay Pragatisheel
Shikhkhok Samaj, Chhatra League and other organisations of the university
placed wreaths there.

Pro Vice-chancellor of BRUR Professor Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina, its Proctor
Md. Atiur Rahman, its Registrar Colonel (Retd) Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal,
President of BRUTA Professor Dr. Abu Kamal Farid Ul Islam, its General
Secretary Tabiur Rahman Prodhan, Controller of Examinations Professor Dr,
Morshed Hossain, Director of the BRUR Library Professor Dr. Parimal Chandra
Barman, Director of the Public Relations, Information and Publication
Division Professor Dr. Md. Nazmul Haque, President of BRUR unit of Chhatra
League Abu Monnaf Al Kibria and its General Secretary Kamrul Hasan Sheikh
Nobel, among others, were present.

The speakers said Bangladesh would not become independent if Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was not born on this soil to lead
the nation in liberating the country from Pakistani occupation forces.

The Vice-chancellor called upon the young generation to know the ideals,
life-long struggle and supreme sacrifice of Bangabandhu and his works with
patriotic zeal for building an exploitation-free developed Sonar Bangla.
